Overview

Internationally known for its luxury shopping, fine dining, and five-star hotels, Dubai has emerged in the 21st century as one of the most popular tourist destinations on Earth. For a glimpse of Dubai before the glitz and glamour and modern superstructures, explore Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood located along Dubai Creek. This gateway to Dubai’s past features aspects of ancient Emirati architecture and showcases a way of living that prevailed from the mid-1800s to the 1970s. Dubai is also where the desert meets the sea, and desert safaris are a popular pastime.

What to See

Burj Khalifa – At 2,722 feet, which is more than half a mile, Burj Khalifa is the tallest building on the planet. This more than 160-story mixed-use skyscraper houses luxury residences, a hotel, restaurants and more. Head up to the observation deck for awe-inspiring, 360-degree views of Dubai.

The Dubai Fountain – The world’s tallest performing fountain is located between the world’s tallest building and the Dubai Mall. The Dubai Fountain unleashes thousands of gallons of water hundreds of feet high and its colorful and illuminated water jets sway rhythmically to various melodies.

Dubai Opera – Dubai’s definitive performing arts venue, which blends “visionary architecture with moments of magic,” is located near The Dubai Fountain and hosts operas, ballets, plays, concerts and more.

Palm Jumeirah – This palm-tree-shaped archipelago of man-made islands is home to some of Dubai’s top luxury resorts, fine-dining establishments, sandy beaches, and upscale villas.

When to Go
